The application of stainless steel in the field of industrial processing and manufacturing is very common, but the many grades of stainless steel make people who are not familiar with stainless steel very messy. In the stainless steel we often hear about 440C stainless steel this material, we generally know 440C this material after understanding stainless steel, then 440C stainless steel in the end is such a material?
What material is 440C stainless steel?
440C steel is a martensitic stainless steel, part of the American Standard 440 series. There are four grades of 440 stainless steel in the US standard, which are: 440A, 440B, 440C, 440F (AST A582), and the corresponding grades of domestic stainless steel are 9Cr18, 9Cr18Mo and so on. The rust resistance of 440C stainless steel is very strong, and it is high-quality stainless steel.
440C is the representative of martensitic stainless steel, can be heat treated to achieve high hardness, heat treatment of 440C stainless steel hardness is the highest in all stainless steel, heat-resistant steel. It is usually used in the manufacture of bearings, tools, or plastic molds requiring high load and high wear resistance under corrosion conditions. This is why the first associative word when typing 440C is often 440C steel knife.
Application of 440C stainless steel
440C stainless steel is suitable for the manufacture of bearings and bearing parts that work in corrosive environments and in strong oxidizing atmospheres without lubrication.
440C has good dimensional stability at high temperature and is not easy to deform, so it can be used as a corrosion resistant high temperature bearing steel.
The 440C can be used to manufacture high quality knives, such as medical scalpels, scissors, nozzles, bearings, etc.
440C stainless steel can be used instead of 440F by improving its easy cutting properties and then used for automatic lathes or ordinary alloy steel.
However, it should be noted that the ability of 440C stainless steel to withstand dynamic load is low, and it needs to be paid attention to in the process of use.
